Sailing From Cesme to Samos
First part of the sailing trip is starting from Cesme our base port to Samos with a visit in Kırkdilim Liman in Turkey. By clearing the obstacles of the reefs of Top Burnu and Uc Burunlar and narrow passage with the help of GPS/Plotter guides, going through a Chios Channel, you will arrive to Kirkdilim Liman. Kırkdilim Liman (38°06'12"N - 38°09'32"N - 26°32'51"E - 26°36'00"E) is a very nice, quite cove with few boats around. It is a secluded place but the bush is very thick and one can not penetrate too far in from the shore. However, all together it has found to be a very satisfying anchorage, conveniently located between Samos and Çesme.
From Kirkdilim Liman, by passing Teke Burun and rounding Cavo Fonias the northestermost point of Samos, you can anchor at an attractive little, fairly nice cove located just west of Mourtia on the way to harbor Pythagorio in Samos.
Pythagorio, the oldest manmade port of the Mediterranean is one of the most popular harbors of Samos getting thousands of yachts sail there all year round. The Municipal Services of Pythagorio provide the yachts with fuel, electricity, water and telephone. It also offers information for the sites of the island, cultural events, local festivals and accommodation. with more than 60 local tavernas, bars, cafes and nightclubs it is considered as the best nightlife hotspot of Samos. |
From Samos to Leros
Glypapas cove in Arki is 23.7 M away from Pythagorio. Arki is one of the very small islands belong to the Patmos, mainly covered with bushes and some trees, about 8 nautical miles away from the holy island of Patmos. An island Lipsi lies between Arki and Leros. Lipsi is the biggest island of small group of islets. Along the small port and at the village at the top of the hill the visitor will find small taverns and cafes with local delicacies. Look for local products, namely thyme honey (produced the traditional way), wine, cheese, dairy products (touloumotyri cheese, the local version of cottage cheese called mizithra) and grapes. |
